TRS leaders demand for immediate release of K Chandrasekhara Rao

November 30, 2009

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders have demanded an unconditional withdrawal of all cases against the TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao who is on an indefinite fast and his immediate release from Khammam Jail. TRS floor leaders E Rajender and former MP B Vinod met the Chief Minister in the Secretariat on Tuesday evening and demanded the release of Chandrasekhara Rao or at least his immediate shifting to Cherlapally jail in the city.

Speaking to media persons, Rajender said that the chief Minister agreed to consider their demand but advised them to get in touch with the police intelligence chief. The TRS leader said that the party would chalk out further action, including a dharna in front of the Chief Minister's residence, if the government did not responded positively to their demand. He justified the demand on the ground that there was a threat to KCR's life besides the poor facilities in Khammam sub jail.

He alleged that the police had conspired to break KCR's fast right from the time they arrested him. In jail, KCR was totally at the mercy of Greyhounds personnel and not a single policeman from Telangana was posted near him. At another press conference, A Chandrasekhar accused the State Government of carrying out misinformation campaign that KCR had ended his fast by circulating video CDs to the media showing clippings of KCR taking juice. But the fact was that the doctors had given him colored water while administrating a tablet after forcibly injecting IV fluids, he said.
