With this, the submission of the Srikrishna Committee Report to the Union Government is completed. It is said that the report detailed about the pros and cons of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. In the context of report, security was beefed up across Andhra Pradesh to prevent any untoward situation.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will study the report carefully. The report will be made available to public on the evening. The report will also be made available on the Internet that evening.

Home Minister Chidambaram confirmed having received the report. He later went on giving a brief idea about the next step. He said that the Ministry will go through the report, hold a meeting with the political parties, make the report public and then take the next steps. Appealing the people of Andhra Pradesh, he quoted, 'those who respect the Democracy should also respect the process of democracy'. He assured the people that the deployment of security forces is purely as a security measure and they the forces will function as a reserve police.

In order not to repeat the mistake of slippy language used last year, Chidambaram was extra cautious in his dissemination and appealed the media to extend their co-operation by asking them to disseminate the information in a fair and impartial manner and not to speculate on it.

Meanwhile, speaking outside the Home Ministry office, the committee members, soon after submitting their report, said that the report comes in 2 volumes and is a voluminous report. When media men asked if the report gave a clear decision, the committee member said: 'We have given the way forward'.
