Telangana JAC convener meets CWC member and APCC president

The convener of Telanagana JAC Prof. C Kodandaram has urged the Congress leadership in the State to persuade the Centre to spell out of terms of reference for the Justice Srikrishna Committee on Telanagana at the earliest. During his interaction with the CWC member K Keshava Rao and APCC president D Srinivas was on Sunday, Prof. Kodandaram also wanted the terms of reference to be in tune with the December 9 statement made by the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram on initiating the process of formation of separate Telanagana.

He reportedly said that if the terms of reference were not announced in the next couple of days, the agitation for separate statehood would be intensified further. According to sources said during his meeting with Dr Rao, the JAC convener emphasized on fixed terms of reference for the committee to submit his report. Dr Rao reportedly assured him that he would talk to the central leadership and impress upon them the need to expedite the process for creation of separate State.

In the meeting with APCC president, he wanted withdrawal of police cases against students connected with the recent agitations. Former Minister for Home, K Jana Reddy who was also present at the meetings, said as the Telanagana leaders were actively pursuing the agenda for statehood, there was no need for the youth or students to end their lives. He urged students to see that the academic year was not spoiled because of agitations.
