Telanagana Joint Action Committee Meeting on January 12

January 10, 2010

The All-Party Joint Action Committee would meet in Hyderabad on January 12 to prepare the road map to sustain the movement for achieving statehood to Telanagana. The JAC leaders led by convenor C Kodandaram said in a press conference on Sunday that the meeting is open to organizations associated with the movement and politicians of various hues, including Members of Parliament, MLAs, MLCs and ZP chairmen.

The meeting would address the concerns of Telanagana supporters who were looking for the efforts to keep up the momentum of the agitation. Kodandaram said that the MPs and MLAs from Telanagana region not to withdraw their resignations and added that the road map to be finalized would include the subject. It was the view of Telanagana supporters that public representatives from the region should not continue in their posts in the integrated State, he said.

He sought due share for Telanagana in four vacancies of judges of the High Court which were proposed to be filled up shortly. It was not good to give entire representation of coastal and Rayalaseema districts in the filling up of these posts when a separate Telanagana agitation is in progress. He regretted that the proposed names for the posts indicated Telanagana was being deprived of representation. JAC leader C Vittal condemned Congress MP KS Rao's remarks earlier in the day that the Telanagana movement would subside if a leader from the region was made Deputy Chief Minister. Vittal warned the supporters of integrated State that they would face the ire of the people of Telanagana if they indulged in such talk.
