AP High court gives conditional clearance for Telangana Garjana

January 2, 2010

Ahead of the January 5 meeting in New Delhi, separate Telangana and united Andhra protagonists upped the ante even as the leadership of various parties continued their rank and file of their brains over how best to present the respective cases before the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram. After failing to get the nod from the police for the 'Garjana' on Osmania University campus on Sunday, Telangana supporters obtained clearance from the Andhra Pradesh High Court with some conditions.

On the other hand, united Andhra Pradesh supporters for the Coastal and Rayalaseema regions devised a programme to stall a break up of the State. Leaders of various parties and university students came together to form a Joint Action Committee for Samaikyandhra Pradesh. The JAC announced a bandh across the Coastal and Rayalaseema regions on January 4 and a rail roko the following day. The leaders of Congress, TDP, TRS were busy throughout the day finalizing strategies for all party meet.

Meanwhile, the CPI (M) has said that the Centre should first take a political decision on the creation of a Telanagana and then engage all the stakeholders including political parties, in talks to sort out issues relating to separation in an amicable manner. CPI(M) Moist Politburo and secretary of the Central Regional Committee said that there is no need for any concern among the people since they could go anywhere in the country for education or living and the same holds even good in respect of Telangana. He said that the party is of the view that the doubts of a few people in the Andhra Region are being exploited by some vested interests.
