Telanagana JAC to go ahead with protests till February 7
Notwithstanding its decision to wait until February 7 to press for resignations by MLAs from Telanagana, the JAC on Friday finalized the agitation program up to that date. The working and steering committees of JAC which met here on Friday decided to go ahead with the agitation demanding the Central Government to announce a time frame for the formation of Telanagana.
JAC convener Prof. Kodandaram speaking to media said that it was decided to organize picketing at Collectorates in Telanagana districts on February 1, huger strike by MPs, MLAs and MLCs in Assembly premises on February 2, human chain on National High Way 7 from Adilabad to Mahabubnagar on February 3, Community cooking and games on Hyderabad-Karimnagar highways on February 4, human chain on NH 7 from Kodad to Hyderabad on February 5 and convention of MPs, MLAs and MLCs on February 6. The agitation with the 'Chalo Kakatiya University' programme at Warangal where a major meeting of students is scheduled on February 7.
Prof. Kodandaram thanked the State Government for conceding the JAC's request to postpone the Intermediate examinations but demanded that the spot valuation be taken up region wise. The Centre's announcement to constitute a committee to look into Telanagana issue failed to put an end to demonstrations by supporters of a separate State across the region. The Students of Telanagana University mobbed Nizamabad MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud at Dichpallin in Nizamabad district demanding his resignation. They relented after the promise to stick to the deadline fixed by JAC.
