Serious differences crops among Telanagana Congress leaders

January 29, 2010

After the announcement of the Union Home Minister, P Chidamabaram's statement on constituting a committee on Telanagana, serious differences have cropped among the Telanagana Congress leaders over the fresh deadline set by the Telanagana JAC on political parties. A majority of the Congress MLAs are questioning the need to extend the deadline in the wake of the categorical announcement. APCC president D Srinivas said that the Congress High command took a serious view of setting a deadline for acceptance of resignations.

He reportedly expressed displeasure over the JAC setting a fresh deadline when two senior MLAs K Jana Reddy and B Saraiah met him on Friday. Saraiah later speaking to media said that a meeting of the available Telanagana Congress MLAs would be convened on Saturday morning. Former Minister, R Damodar Reddy drew flak for attending an emergency meeting of the JAC when the Congress has decided to keep itself away.

MLC KR Amos faulted Damodar Reddy for being a party to the JAC decision on deadline. He has fallen into the trap laid by the JAC, he said. Angered by the JAC deadline, Cantonment MLA P Shankara Rao demanded that the Congress sever its ties with the JAC. He demanded that the JAC convener Prof. Kodandaram and other employee unions representatives quit their jobs before making such demands and they cannot dictate terms to the Congress MLAs.
