TDP likely to quit Telangana JAC

March 7, 2010

The Telugu Desam Party is likely to quit the Telangana JAC as it viewed the panel to be closed associated with the TRS that the party considered as the villain in the clash between its workers and advocates on Saturday. Sources said that the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu was under severe pressure from the party leaders in Telangana to opt out of JAC because its convener M Kodandaram and TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao had connived to tarnish the formers image.

At a tele-conference Chandrababu Naidu had with the party leaders on Sunday, several of them were said to have mentioned that the lawyers obstructed the dharna by TDP and Left parties, leading to trouble with the blessings of Chandrasekhara Rao. They pointed out that the latter was always soft towards Congress but targeted the TDP deliberately.

However, another section of leaders counseled restraint because the TDP leaders were unable to face people in villages owing to the belief that the party was not committed to separate Telangana.

Meanwhile, Telangana JAC called its advocates to boycott courts on Monday.
