Congress party high command fails to stop Jagans Odarpu Yatra in Telangana region

Fast paced developments took place on Thursday with the AICC general secretary M Veerappa Moily calling upon YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Moily asked made it clear that the central leadership is not in favor of his resuming Odarpu Yatra scheduled to commence on Friday in Warangal. Sources said that Jagan was advised that it was not desirable at this juncture to undertake such yatra as the peace that restored may be disturbed in Telangana region. Jagan reportedly expressed Moily his inability to call off the tour stating that it was a private visit and also referred to the death of Dalit laborer Yadagiri in Warangal district due to heart attack on learning that attempts were being make to prevent his tour.

Later, Moily informed the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, K Rosaiah about the adamant stand taken by Jagan Mohan Reddy and suggested him to take all precautions to prevent any breach of the law and order. The Chief Minister convened an emergency Cabinet meeting with the available ministers and briefed them about the high command apprehensions about likely trouble in view of the rigid stand taken up by Jagan Mohan Reddy as well as as hi detractors in TRS and the Congress.

The meeting concluded with the Chief Minister directing the Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy to keep a close watch on the law and order situation. The Police Department has already directed to provide security to Jagan Mohan Reddy under certain conditions that he keep it informed about the route and the timing. Later, the Home Minister and Agricultural Minister met Jagan at his residence.
