Home Minister orders inquiry into firing at Jagan Odarpu Yatra

On Friday, the Home Minister, P Sabitha Indra Reddy said an inquiry has been ordered into the incident in Mahabubabad of Warangal district in which gunmen of the Congress MLA Konda Surekha opened fire causing injuries to some persons. The Home Minister met the Chief Minister K Rosaiah in the evening and speaking to media persons that the Chief Minister had reviewed the violent incidents since morning and also discussed about the measures to be taken in view of the call for Telangana Bandh on Saturday. Sabitha Indra Reddy clarified that there were no deaths in Mahabubabad incident but one person was seriously injured and he was being extended the best medical care. A special team of doctors was rushed to MGM Hospital, Warangal to extend medical care. She appealed the people of all regions to remain calm and help in restoration of law and order and Jagan Mohan Reddy would not undertake Odarpu Yatra in Warangal from now. Arrangements would be made to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to people due to bandh, she said.

The Home Minister said that the Chief Minister also reviewed the situation after Jagan Mohan Reddy's arrest and incident of arson at Tirupati where some train coaches were set on fire. Action would be taken against those involved in the incident. She said that the government would take action against Telangana leaders for their provocative remarks and said no one would be spared.

The Congress high command is considering taking appropriate action against Jagan Mohan Reddy for defying the party's high command direction and going ahead with his proposed Odarpu Yatra in Warangal district. Party media department chairman and in charge of disciplinary committee Janardhan Dwivedi hinted action against Jagan Mohan Reddy would be taken based on the report of the Union Law Minister and party general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh Veerappa Moily. He denied to comment any thing at present and Jagan Mohan Reddy went ahead of Odarpu Yatra despite the direction of the party high command's advice as it would vitiate the atmosphere in Telangana.
