High Court grants bail to Cheruku Sudhakar

The detention of TRS polit bureau member Dr. Cheruku Sudhakar is improper, opined the Andhra Pradesh High Court today. Cheruku Sudhakar has been in detention under the National Security Act, 1980 since last month. The State Government has extended the detention by an year on December 6.

The High Court bench comprising Justice Gopal Reddy and Justice Kantha Rao has granted bail to Sudhakar and directed the Government to issue orders to release him immediately. Bharat Reddy who is the counsel for Sudhakar and the Telangana Lawyers JAC who challenged the Government's detention orders in the High Court has appreciated the decision of the High Court. They termed the decision a win for democracy. The TRS leaders said that the decision to grant bail is a set back for the Kiran Kumar Reddy's Government.

Protests across Telangana were witnessed since the arrest of Sudhakar. The TRS has stage rasta rokos across Telangana demanding the government to release him immediately.

While expressing happiness on the decision, TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao said that it is a victory of the people. Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao said that bench's decision is a slap on the face to the Government. Lakshmi, who is the wife of Sudhakar, thanked TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, JAC leaders, TRS party workers and Students across Telangana who have been demanding the release of Sudhakar.
