Rasta Roko programmes disrupts traffic
Hyderabad
The vehicular traffic on all major roads throughout Telangana came to virtually a halt on Monday in response to a 'Rasta Roko' call given by Telangana JAC. It demanded introduction of a bill in Parliament for separate statehood to the region. Traffic to the State Capital and other major towns in the regional from Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions were severely disrupted.
Trains detained
Barring a couple of incidents of stone throwing on buses, the protest passed on peacefully. At Sankepalli in Karimnagar district several protesters suffered injuries as an APSRTC bus ran into crowd. The protestors damaged windshields of another bus at Armoor in Nizamabad. The Nandigam Express and Inter-City Express were detained by TJAC activists.
Leaders from TRS, BJP alleged that the Central Government was trying to deceive once again the people of Telangana in the guise of Justice Sri Krishna Committee Report. Police arrested TJAC, TRS and BJP leaders and activists at several places for blocking the traffic and later released.
