Sri Krishna Committee makes six recommendations

The Report by the Sri Krishna Committee that was formed to study and recommend the feasibility of formation of a separate Telangana state has been made public today. The Sri Krishna Committee Report was earlier submitted to Home Minister P Chidambaram on December 30, 2010.

The Sri Krishna Committee Report contains six recommendations.

Recommendations

The Sri Krishna Committee has made six recommendations to the Union Government. The following are the recommendations made:

  1. Maintain status quo; To keep the state united; Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister from the two regions
  2. To Bifurcate into Seemandhra and Telangana states, which reflects the situation before 1956. To make Hyderabad as a Union Territory
  3. To combine Rayalaseema and Telangana regions as RayalaTelangana state and a separate Seemandhra state. Hyderabad to remain with RayalaTelangana.
  4. To Bifurcate into Seemandhra and Telangana states with enlarged Hyderabad comprising of Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Nalgonda and Mahaboobnagar districts as a Union Territory.
  5. Seemandhra and Telangana states, with Hyderabad as capital of Telangana. Seemandhra to have a separate capital.
  6. To keep the state united with constitution of Telangana Regional Council to look into Socio-Economic and Political development.
