'Rail Roko' in Telangana tomorrow
Hyderabad
The Telangana Joint Action Committee has called for a 12-hour 'rail roko' in the Telangana region from 6am tomorrow. The 'rail roko' is part of the agitation pressing their demand for the separate statehood of Telangana.
Speaking at a press conference, JAC convener M Kodandaram said that the protesters will squat on the tracks till 6pm, unlike the previous agitations where the leaders stood in front of the trains. The TRS leaders have already identified 50 railway stations in the region where they will stage the 'rail roko' protests.
Kodandaram and TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao will take part in protests at Cherlapally railway station, while another TRS MLA T Harish Rao and TRS MP Vijayashanti will agitate at the Nagulapally railway station. Reacting to the 'Rail Roko' threats, the South Central Railway has cancelled 31 express trains and 116 passenger services all over the region.
