No decision on fresh resignations soon

July 28, 2011

The decision on whether to accept the fresh resignation letters by TRS legislators and the rebel TDP MLAs is not likely to be taken soon. The Congress central leadership believes that any decision on the resignation letters will only hamper the progress made so far in the separate statehood of Telangana issue. The TRS MLAs have faxed their resignation letters which could be considered as their intention to resign, whereas the rebel TDP MLAs - Nagam Janardhan Reddy, K Harishwar Reddy, S Venugopala Chary and Jogu Ramanna gave their resignation letters in the prescribed format to the Legislature Secretary's office.

Speaker Nadendla Manohar Reddy had earlier rejected the resignations of Congress, TDP and TRS legislators before leaving to London. 101 out of 119 MLAs have submitted their resignation letters demanding a separate Telangana state on the 4th and 5th of this month. The Congress MLAs are not sure whether to resubmit their resignation letters as they would not serve any purpose and might get rejected again.
