Telangana bandh continues on the second day

The 48-hour Telangana bandh is continuing on the second day today. As part of the bandh today, the Telangana Doctors JAC will withhold all medical services except emergency services in the Telangana region today. Telangana Doctors JAC chairman Dr. B Ramesh speaking to the media, demanded that the Telangana bill be placed in the parliament.
The APSRTC services will not run today because of the bandh. MMTC train services will resume from 12pm onwards. The Singareni employees who offered solidarity with the bandh will not resume the work today.
Highlights of the bandh on second day
- Telangana activists have burnt two buses protesting the delay by the Central Government in taking a decision on the Telangana issue. They took part in a rally and later burnt the buses that belong to Annamacharya Engineering College in Hayatnagar. The police have taken four into custody.
- The Telangana bandh has resulted in a loss of Rs. 10 crores to the Singareni coal mines. 45,000 tonnes of coal production was halted as the employees refrained from attending duties. As many as 22,000 employees participate voluntarily on the second day of the bandh.
- The examinations that were scheduled to held from today onwards at the Kakatiya University were postponed.
- Telangana Political JAC convener Prof. M Kodandaram has been arrested at RTC Cross Roads in Hyderabad. Kodandaram was on his way to Osmania University when he was arrested. He was shifted to the Gandhi Nagar police station. The police told the media that the arrest is a preventive measure as section 144 is in place.
- Speaking to the media, KTR said that arrest of Kodandaram is anti-democratic and demanded the immediate release of him.
- Minister Jana Reddy who led the resignations of Congress legislators a couple of days ago said that their primary goal is the formation of separate Telangana state. He urged to speed up the process of the formation of separate Telangana state.
- PCC President Botcha Satyanarayana said that he is hoping for the resolution of the Telangana issue. He said that a permanent solution to the problem comes if the party's central leadership reveals their opinion on the issue.
- The Telugu Desam Party leaders who seized the assembly demanded the removal of additional police forces in the twin cities.
Telangana Congress MPs meet at Sukhender Reddy's residence
The Telangana Congress MPs met at the residence of MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy in New Delhi today. The meeting is to discuss the latest political scenario in the state on the account of Telangana bandh and the resignation of several public representatives in the last couple of days. The MPs are scheduled to meet Congress in-charge for state affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad at 11am. MP's Manda Jagannatham and Siricilla Rajaiah told the media that they are returning to Hyderabad as they don't have any thing new to say to the party's central leadership.
Telangana comes to a standstill yesterday
The bandh which started yesterday was mostly peaceful, except for the clash between the Osmania University students and the police at the OU campus. Suspended TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy was arrested yesterday for trying to enter the OU campus, while some of the TDP leaders were taken into custody for violating the 144 section and staging a dharna at Gun Park. All TRS, BJP and CPI MLAs tendered their resignations yesterday.
