Telangana Congress leaders to meet Prime Minister today
Telangana Congress MPs, Ministers, MLAs and MLCs will meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi this evening. With most of the political parties preparing their agenda on the protests to be made to achieve the formation of a separate Telangana state, the Congress leaders are leaving to New Delhi to express their views on the separate state of Telangana.
It is known that the Congress high command has earlier promised the state leaders that they will concentrate on the Telangana issue after the assembly elections in five states. The Telangana Congress leaders have already notified the high command that they will take up protests from July 1st onwards if a decision is not arrived on the Telangana issue. The Telangana Congress leaders are scheduled to meet finance minister and senior congress leader Pranab Mukherjee on the 15th of this month to urge him to stick to the announcement made on December 9 favoring separate Telangana state. They are demanding to stick to the formation of separate Telangana state leaving the Sri Krishna Committee report aside.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Office has denied any knowledge about the meeting between the Telangana congress leaders and the Prime Minister today. The officials at the PMO said that appointment was given to one congress MP to meet the Prime Minister.
