Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy issues statement on Tank Band incident

Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy made a statement in the assembly about the 'Million march' incident at the tank band yesterday. The home minister said that investigation on the tank band incident is in progress. She said that Telangana JAC Convener M Kodandaram has sent a letter about the 'Million march' rally to the police and that the police have not approved the rally.

She said that the police received reports of a possibility of violence in the rally and that is why they had to take some of the political leaders into custody yesterday. She said that the police had to use tear gas and lathi charge to disperse the mobs.

Revealing the details of the damages caused at the tank band, the Home Minister said that 16 statues have been desecrated. The ACP vehicle, media cameras and OB van was damaged in the incident. She reported that 8 police officers were injured when the mobs hurled stones at the police. The home minister also said that the police used tear gas at the Osmania University campus.
