TRS politburo member and former Maoist leader Sambasivudu was hacked to death by unidentified persons in the midnight at Nalgonda today. Sambasivudu was coming back in an innova car after attending the 'Telangana Dhoom Dham' programme in Valigonda mandal when he was chased by 10 persons in two cars. TRS leader Srinivas and six others were severely injured in the incident.

Sambasivudu was attacked with sharp knives and swords and the attackers left the spot immediately. He was rushed to the hospital by his supporters but succumbed to his injuries.

Who is Sambasivudu?

Sambasivudu became a Maoist in 1990. He was involved in 80 cases and was allegedly the mastermind in the 2003 assassination attempt of the then Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He also allegedly planned the failed assassination attempt on N Janardhan Reddy and also the 2008 Balimela attack which killed 38 policemen belonging to Greyhounds.

Sambasivudu surrendered in front of the home minister Jana Reddy in 2009 after he developed differences with other Maoist leaders. He joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party last year and was made a politburo member.

Post Mortem

The post-mortem on his dead body was conducted at the Gandhi Hospital. His last rites will be held in Dasireddy gudem of Nalgonda district. The post-mortem report said that Sambasivudu lost a lot of blood after the attack which led to his death. The doctors who conducted the post-mortem said that Sambasivudu died after an hour of the attack. 20 cuts were found on his body.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) strongly condemned the death of Sambasivudu. TRS floor leader Etela Rajender said that the Telangana region has lost a good leader by the death of Sambasivudu.

Telangana Praja Front President Gaddar, while condemning the attack, said that it is an attempt to crush the Telangana movement. Mallepalli Lakshmaiah alleged that the attack on Sambasivudu is only to create jitters among those who are taking part in the Telangana movement.
