Former Telugu Desam Party leader and Convener of Telangana Nagara Samithi Nagam Janardhan Reddy has filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court urging them to direct the Assembly Speaker to approve the resignation that he has submitted. Janardhan Reddy, in his petition, has said that he resigned in protest against the promises that were made for separate Telangana state by the political parties being unfulfilled. He mentioned that almost all political parties have promised that they will support a separate Telangana state during campaigning prior to the 2009 assembly elections. The Centre has also announced on December 10, 2009 that the process for formation of the Telangana statehood will be initiated.

However, the people of the Telangana region are still waiting for the promises to be fulfilled. They even came out and are actively participating in the Telangana movement, he said. Frustrated by the Telugu Desam Party's attitude towards the separate Telangana State, he had tendered his resignation on July 15, which was rejected by the Speaker Nadendla Manohar. However, he had resigned again on July 24 saying that the decision to resign was taken on his own and voluntarily. In his petition, Janardhan Reddy urged the High Court to direct the Speaker to accept his resignation.
