DSP Nalini threatens to go on hunger strike
Hyderabad
Deputy Superintendent of Police D Nalini has threatened to on an indefinite fast at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi if the Telangana State was not announced by December 9. The DSP, who resigned on November 1, addressed a press conference in Hyderabad.
Nalini said that she would tour in various places of Telangana in the mean time to gather more support to the Telangana movement. She said that she would launch the hunger strike on December 9 which marks two years of announcement by the Centre on formation of a separate Telangana state.
Nalini has sent her resignation letter to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and the Director General of Police on November 1. Nalini also alleged that she was harassed by senior police officials from coastal districts before she submitted her resignation. This is the second time that Nalini has tendered her resignation. In 2009, just after four months of her first posting on probation after passing out of the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy, Nalini resigned saying she could not work under officers hailing from Andhra region.
