Minister for Infrastructure Komatireddy Venkat Reddy resigns

Sticking to the statement he made earlier, Minister for Infrastructure Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has submitted his resignation letter to Governor ESL Narasimhan. Venkat Reddy earlier announced that he would resign if the Centre fails to arrive at a solution to the Telangana issue by September 30. He also submitted his resignation as Member of Legislative Assembly to Secretary of Legislative Assembly S Sadaram.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, along MPs Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Gutha Sukhender Reddy, MLA Chirumarthi Lingayya and former MP A Indrakiran Reddy came in a convoy of vehicles along with his supporters to the Raj Bhavan to submit his resignation letter. He stated that he was joining the decades-long struggle for a separate Telangana state. Chirumarthi Lingaiah, the Nakrekal MLA and a close aide of the Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also submitted his resignation to his Assembly seat.

The Governor has forwarded the resignation letter of the Minister to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy for his advice before taking any action on this issue.

After submitting his resignation, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy paid tributes to the martyrs of Telangana at Gun Park. Speaking on the occasion, he threatened that he would leave the Congress party if it fails to approve the formation of a separate Telangana state. He will address a gathering at a public meeting on Sunday at Nalgonda.
