Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has threatened of severe action if the agitators continue to obstruct students and employees of Singareni Collieries and APSRTC in the name of 'Sakala Janula Samme'. Addressing a press conference along with Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, he said that zero tolerance would be shown towards those disturbing law and order.

The Chief Minister also urged the State Government employees, particularly teachers of schools and colleges and Singareni employees to join their duties as the strike is negatively affecting the people of the region. He said that there is no need to continue the general strike as their opinions, sentiments and aspirations were already conveyed to the Congress high command and the Centre. He said that welfare schemes to the poor couldn't be implemented due to the ongoing general strike.

When asked whether salaries would be paid to the government staff, he said that the matter was under the purview of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
