2382 cases booked on day 1 of 3-day rail roko

A total of 2382 cases were booked on Day 1 of the 3-day rail roko agitation. Revealing the details to the reporters, Law and Order IG Anuradha said that several cases were filed against MLAs and MPs who took part in the rail roko agitation under the railway laws. She said that cases were also booked against JAC convener M Kodandaram and TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao for calling the rail roko agitation. Case against K Taraka Rama Rao was filed under section 353 for his remarks against the police. MPs Siricilla Rajaiah, Vivek, Vijayashanti, MLAs T Harish Rao, Rajayya and Telangana Jagruti leader K Kavitha were also booked.
Cases against those who squatted on railway tracks as part of the agitation were booked under CrPC 151. 718 were arrested for pelting stones against buses. The arrested will be sent to remand in the evening today.
