Ghulam Nabi Azad meets Chief Minister, urges TNGO to call off strike

Congress in-charge for state affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad has met with Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy today. Sources say that the discussion between them lasted for over an hour and they have discussed about the current status of the Sakala Janula Samme, MLC nomination and also the Telangana issue. Azad will reach Hyderabad at 5pm today.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Ghulam Nabi Azad urged the Government employees of Telangana who are participating in the Sakala Janula Samme to immediately call off the strike keeping in view of the Diwali and Bakrid festive season. He said that the discussions with representatives of both Telangana and Andhra region are already completed and an announcement on the issue will be made after discussions at the national level. He however declined to give a timeframe for such an announcement.
Police arrests Employees Union leaders
Meanwhile, Police have arrested nearly 150 Telangana Employees and JAC leaders in Nalgonda, who are on Jana Chaitanya yatra to educate the people on the statehood of Telangana. The police have setup check posts on the Nalgonda-Sagar main road. On learning about the arrests, the Telangana activists have staged a protest at the Gadiaram centre in Nalgonda demanding the release of those arrested. Speaking about the incident, the TNGO leader Swami Goud termed the arrests as anti-democratic and demanded the immediate release of the arrested employees.
