Telangana Congress MLAs to observe protest on November 1

The first-time Telangana Congress MLAs who met here on Friday decided to observe November 1 as protest day to mount pressure on Centre to announce decision on Telangana statehood. November 1st is the AP formation day. The meeting which was attended by 17 first-time MLAs wanted all Congress leaders to take collective decisions on the Telangana movement. They criticized the MPs from the region for taking decisions without consulting the legislators from the region or the steering committee.
Speaking to reporters, Bhupalpalle MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy said that they will urge the government to implement the following points.
- To withdraw all cases against the Telangana agitators
- Payment of compensation to farmers who lost their crops due to the power cuts during Sakala Janula Samme
- Declare all districts of the Telangana region as drought-hit
- To give top priority to irrigation projects in the region
- To pay attention to Pranahita-Chevella and Kanthanpalli projects, till the technical issues of Polavaram project are cleared
The MLAs who participated in the meeting also expressed their solidarity with the proposed indefinite fast of Nalgonda MLA Komatierddy Venkat Reddy from November 1.
