MLAs Jupally Krishna Rao, T Rajaiah and Somarapu Satyanarayana join TRS

Jupally Krishna Rao, T Rajaiah and Somarapu Satyanarayana who announced their intention on Saturday to quit the Congress party, have officially joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the presence of TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao at the party's headquarters in Telangana Bhavan.

Jupally Krishna Rao and T Rajaiah are both Congress MLAs, while Somarapu Satyanarayana is an Independent MLA who is an associate member of the Congress party in the Assembly. With the joining of these three MLAs, the strength of TRS has gone up to 17 members, 12 of those have won on the party's ticket. Gampa Govardhan and Jogu Ramanna have recently joined the TRS party quitting the Telugu Desam Party.

Speaking on the occasion, KCR has challenged the TDP to move a no-confidence motion on the government in the Assembly and said that the TRS party would extend support to any such move. He said that the TDP should move a no-confidence motion to prove that it has not colluded with the Congress party. KCR has also said that the joining of Congress MLAs proves that the TRS party would emerge as a major force in the next elections and will achieve Telangana. He also wondered how the Telugu Desam Telangana Forum leaders will face the people in Telangana when their leader Chandrababu Naidu has publicly stated his intention for Polavaram project. He demanded the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to annouce the formation of Telangana state immediately. He added that the Congress party has to stick to their December 9 announcement to survive in Telangana. He warned that the people of Telangana have to become slaves to Seemandhra leaders if Telangana is not formed. He said that Chandrababu Naidu conspired with the then Chief Minister K Rosaiah to stop the formation of Telangana state.

Jupally Krishna Rao said that the Congress party couldn't stand by their promise. Somarapu Satyanarayana said that Congress is delaying taking a decision on the Telangana statehood issue and is commenting on the issue at its leisure. T Rajaiah said that he was moved by the sacrifices made by more than 600 people for the statehood of Telangana.

The meeting was attended by several TRS party workers. Medak MP Vijaysanthi, TRS floor leader in Assembly Etela Rajender, MLAs K Taraka Rama Rao, Enugu Ravinder, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, TRS politburo leaders Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Gunthakandla Jagadeesh Reddy, Singidda Niranjan, Tula Uma and others were present.

Reacting to the resignations of the MLAs, APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana said that the resignations were made due to personal reasons. He said that the resignations of the MLAs would not hurt the party. He also said that the resignations have no connection to the Telangana statehood issue.
