The resignation of Infrastructure, Ports & Airports Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has been approved by the Governor ESL Narasimhan. A press release has been released by the Governor's office. Venkat Reddy has earlier submitted his resignation letter to the Governor on October 1 and has also submitted his resignation as MLA to Secretary of the State Legislature S Raja Sadaram. The Governor has forwarded his resignation letter on the same day to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy for his advise on the issue. The Chief Minister has suggested the Governor to approve the resignation.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was recently arrested while participating in an agitation at Vidyut Soudha. He also criticized the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on several occasions for making attempts to curb the Telangana agitations.

Speaking to media in New Delhi, Congress in-charge for State affairs, Ghulam Nabi Azad criticized that Komatireddy Venkat Reddy's resignation is not solely taken on the demand of a separate Telangana state. Reacting to the approval of his resignation, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has thanked the Chief Minister for the same. Sources say that he will participate in the agitations for a separate Telangana state at a much higher level now. Komatireddy said that he has never aspired for any minister positions. He demanded that that the resignation of his MLA seat should also be approved by the 8th of this month. He threatened to go on a protest at Gun Park from the 9th of this month.
