T-Congress leaders reiterate Septemer 30 deadline
Hyderabad
The Telangana Congress leaders have reiterated the deadline of September 30 to the Congress high command to come up with a positive announcement on the statehood of Telangana. The Telangana Congress Committee leaders have met at the residence of Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao in Hyderabad.
The T-Congress leaders have warned the state government of serious consequences if they continue to crush the 'Sakalajanula Samme' (General Strike) with an iron hand. The leaders found fault with the Kiran Kumar Reddy government for invoking ESMA provisions to curb the agitation. Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy questioned the government how it can plan to stifle the voices of the Telangana state government employees and their right for agitation for separate statehood.
The Congress leaders also expressed their dissatisfaction with the Congress leadership who are planning to field a candidate in the Banswada bypoll next month. They warned the Government that the results of byelections in 12 constituencies last year will be repeated. The leaders also maintained that there is no question of campaigning for the Congress candidate in the Bandwada byelection.
A delegation led by K Keshava Rao and Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy would meet the Central leadership in New Delhi in the next couple of days. It is learnt that they will also carry the resignation letters of Congress MLAs and Ministers from the Telangana region to the high command. The leaders are also planning to submit their resignation letters to Speaker and Governor in the first week of October, if the Centre would not come up with an positive announcement on the Telangana by the month end.
