Lagadapati Rajagopal arrested in Hyderabad

Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal was arrested by the police at the Transport Department's Central office in Hyderabad. Rajagopal was here at the Central office to show solidarity with the Additional Transport Commissioner P Srinivas who was assaulted by Telangana activists on Monday.

The Vijayawada MP spoke with the employees belonging to Andhra and Rayalaseema regions. Assuring protection to the employees who discharge their duties, he lashed out against the TRS leaders for causing inconvenience to the poor through the 'Sakala Janula Samme'. Rajagopal was later taken into preventive custody under Section 151 of CrPC and driven to the Jubilee Hills police station.

On hearing the news of Lagadapati Rajagopal being at the Transport office, TRS leaders T Harish Rao and K Eshwar reached the venue. However, Rajagopal already left by then. The police tried to prevent the TRS leaders and the Telangana Employees JAC leaders including K Swamy Goud, G Deviprasada Rao, C Vittal and V Srinivasa Goud. After a brief struggle between the police and the Telangana activists, the TRS and JAC leaders were arrested and shifted to Banjara Hills police station.

Telangana JAC Convenor M Kodandaram, TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao, Congress MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud and Khairatabad MLA P Vishnuvardhan Reddy came to the police station. Swamy Goud was later taken to a private hospital for treatment for the injuries sustained.
