Ghulam Nabi Azad submits his report to Sonia Gandhi on Telangana issue

Incharge for State Congress Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad has submitted his report on the Telangana issue to AICC president Sonia Gandhi. Azad has met Sonia Gandhi in the evening today. Ghulam Nabi Azad has met with representatives from the all the three regions - Telangana, Seemandhra and Rayalaseema regions in the last two months and has included their opinion on the issue in the report.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has said that Congress and the UPA Government will have to take a decision on the Telangana issue. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Chidambaram said that they are yet to hear from the Telugu Desam, MIM and YSR Congress Party on their stand on the Telangana issue. Referring to the 'Sakala Janula Samme', Chidambaram said that such agitations would hinder the development in the region. He has called on the TJAC leaders to call off the strike as the UPA Government already realizes the severity of the issue. He said that protests in the form of rail rokos, bandhs etc. are causing severe inconvenience to the people.

The Congress core committee will meet at 6pm today. The Telangana issue and the report submitted by Ghulam Nabi Azad is likely to be discussed in the meeting.

A delegation comprising of TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, TJAC chairman M Kodandaram, TEJAC convener Swamy Goud and other TJAC leaders are scheduled to leave to New Delhi in the evening today to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, President Pratibha Patel and other UPA leaders.
