All-party meet would be held as scheduled says Union Home Minister

In the back drop of the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy requesting the Centre to postpone the all-party meeting on the Telangana issue, the Union Home Minister on Monday said that the meeting would be held as scheduled. The Chief Minister earlier has requested the Centre to postpone the meeting as the World Telugu Conference would be held on the same day. The Chief Minister said that he would be unable to attend the all-party meeting if it is held on December 28. It may be recalled that two all-party meetings on the Telangana issue were held till now on January 5, 2010 and January 6, 2011.

Speaking to media in New Delhi on Monday, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that the YSR Congress would also be among the parties to be invited for the meeting. He said that some Congress MPs had met him requesting him to convene an all-party meeting on the issue. On the number of representatives, he said that he would write to the parties whether they would send one more to the meeting. The Telugu Desam, Congress, MIM and YSRCP are yet to announce their stand on the issue while the BJP, TRS, CPI, CPI-M have already made clear on the issue.
