War of words escalates between TRS and YSRCP

The war of words between YSR Congress Party leader Konda Surekha and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has escalated leading to violence. The YSRCP leader and TRS chief has been criticizing each other on the Telangana issue in the recent past.

The issue escalated when the YSR Congress party workers tried to stage a protest in front of the when TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao was addressing a media conference. The police sprung into action and prevented the YSR Congress Party workers from staging a dharna. The TRS and YSRCP party workers attacked each other. The police resorted to lathi charge to get the situation under control. Heavy police force has been deployed in front of the Telangana Bhavan.

Speaking about the incident, Konda Surekha said that the clash between activists of TRS and YSRCP is not related to the Telangana issue. Saying that they are ready to sacrifice their lives for the cause of Telangana statehood, she questioned if the TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao is ready for it. TRS has called for a district wide bandh in Hyderabad protesting the clash. TRS MLAs T Rajaiah and Vinay Bhaskar has warned the YSRCP of retaliation against the attacks on their party workers.

Police book cases

Police booked cases against nearly 100 party workers of YSRC and took ten into custody on charges of attempt to murder and criminal trespass at Warangal on Tuesday evening. Police said that some of the YSRCP cadre who clashed with TRS party workers spilled petrol over them and tried to set ablaze while injuring severely K Vasudeva Reddy, J Ramesh and Manoj. They registered a case under Section 147, 148, 452, 324 and 307 (read with 149 of IPC) and Section 7 of Criminal Amendment Act following complaints from TRS party workers. Police booked cases against all important leaders including Konda Muralidhar, Konda Surekha, Ch. Srinivas Reddy, B Sudheer Reddy, N Radha and others.
