Vijayalaxmi decides not to contest Mahabubnagar bye-election

N Vijayalaxmi, the widow of Rajeshwar Reddy has finally decided not to contest the Mahabubnagar assembly seat. The Congress party has succeeded in pacifying the Vijaylaxmi and her supporters. Minister for Information and Public Relations DK Aruna along with Congress candidate Muthyala Prakash met Vijaylaxmi and her supporters and promised that their grievances will be addressed.

After a two hour long meeting with Vijayalaxmi and her supporters, they addressed the press and announced that Vijayalaxmi will not contest the bye-elections and has her full support to the Congress party. Aruna said that all issues were sorted out and the supporters of Vijayalaxmi will be given due share in the local bodies elections.

MLC S Jagadishwar Reddy, G Ramakrishna Reddy and other district congress committee leaders were present. Rajeshwar Reddy won the 2009 election as an Independent candidate and won by a majority of 5,137 votes. He passed away on October 30, 2011.
