Police suspect hand of Maoists in Telangana march violence

The Hyderabad police are suspecting the hand of Maoists in the violent incidents on Sunday during the Telangana March. Speaking to the reporters on Monday, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that Maoists might be involved in the violence that resulted in massive damage to properties and arson on the Sunday march.

The police received inputs that some left-wing extremist groups have infiltrated in the movement. He also accused the Telangana Joint Action Committee for going back on its word to organize the march in a peaceful manager. The police has exercised maximum restraint during the march, he said. As many as 25 police vehicles have been damaged during the March and three others were burnt, he added. The activists also burnt the Railway cabin at Necklace Road and two OB vans belonging to television channels were damaged by the activists.

Anurag Sharma said that 19 police personnel were injured and the condition of two were said to be serious in the stone pelting incident. Intelligence SP Rajasekhar and Inspector Gopala Rao were also seriously injured are they were hit by stones.
