October 31, 2012
Hyderabad

The MLAs and MPs from Telangana region have decided to keep away from the Andhra Pradesh State Formation Day celebrations in protest against the Centre's inaction on Telangana issue. The Minister for Backward classes welfare Baswaraju Saraiah who is also the convener of the Telangana Congress MLAs said he would not participate in the official celebrations on the day.

Another Congress leader Gutha Sukhender Reddy said that there is a severe imbalance in the distribution of ministers in the recently expanded Union Council of Ministers between Seemandhra and Rayalaseema regions. He said that while leaders from Telangana region received only 3 berths with ten Districts, Seemandhra got 7 berths from 13 districts, he said.

It may be recalled here that the State Government has asked the District Collectors to officiate as Chief Guests on the occasion of State Formation Day celebrations in anticipation of this move.
