Postpone Telangana March, appeals incharge DGP Dinesh Reddy

The in-charge Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy has appealed to the organizers to postpone the Telangana March, since the date coincides with the immersion on occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The DGP addresses a press conference on Friday.

He said that the police are prepared to face any eventuality and will deal with the law breakers firmly. He said that the police had enough inputs that there is a possible violence likely in the proposed march. The police had not given any permission for the March. He said that with the lakhs of devotees including ladies, aged and children witnessing Ganesh immersion, the anti-social elements and communal elements can creep into this religious crowd to create trouble. Innocent people are likely to get affected if police resorts to lathi charge to bring the situation under control, the DGP said.

Chief Minister gives instructions

Dinesh Reddy said that the Chief Minister has given him clear instructions to ensure that law and order should not be disturbed at any cost. He said there will not be any let up in maintaining law and order situation and will deal firmly with law breakers. He asked the people to take the police into confidence and assured that they will take care of them. The police will consider giving permission to the TJAC if they postpone the march to any other date after Ganesh immersion, he said. The police will maintain very strict vigil and are issuing stern warning that we will not allow anti-social elements to have a field day," he warned.
