The Union Minister for Home Affairs, Sushil Kumar Shinde speaking to media on Thursday said that Telangana State will be a reality in six months.

Ruling out the possibility of placing the Bill in the Monsoon session, he said that it may be placed in the next session stating that normally the process will take 8 to 9 months' time but will try to complete within six months or may be earlier than that, he said. He however ruled out formation of a Second State Re-organization Commission to consider the demands for separate statehood and made it clear that no commitment has been given to any organization for creating any Union Territory. He appealed to everyone who are demanding new states that they should not resort to violence and they can agitate but appealed to follow the democratic process, and peaceful agitation and the Government is ready to hear to anyone carefully. Responding to a question, he said that Andhra Pradesh Assembly had discussed the issue of a separate State in the past and if the proposal comes from the State, it would be good but if not, other ways are open, he said. He said that Telangana was the oldest demand and the issue was first raised in 1951 and then 1956.
