Deputy Speaker of the AP Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka renewed his appeal to the AK Anthony Committee to retain the entire Bhadrachalam division including the temple town in Telangana.

Speaking to media on Tuesday, he said that the historical temple was built by Kancharla Gopanna, popularly known as Bhakta Ramadasu, a Tahsildar of Bhadrachalam under the regime of Abul Hasan Tanisha, the last ruler of the Qutub Shahi dynasty in the 17th century. His subsequent imprisonment for using revenue proceeds for construction of the shrine and release from jail in Golconda fort in Hyderabad is a well-known fact, he said. He said that the custom of offering pearls to the temple deity on the eve of Sitarama Kalyanam in Bhadrachalam dates back to Qutub Shahi era. He submitted all documentary evidence to AICC president Sonia Gandhi on the magnificent history of the temple, he said.
