Union Home Secretary convenes meeting with top State officials

The Centre, on Thursday, began consultations with the top administration officials of Andhra Pradesh in New Delhi. Union Home Secretary RK Singh called on a meeting with top state officials which was attended by Chief secretary Minnie Mathew, Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy, Intelligence Director General Mahender Reddy, Principal Secretary of Power M Sahoo and Principal Secretary of Irrigation Aditya Nath Das.

The meeting wasn't official and the officials have not discussed the details of the meeting with the media. Instead, they said they were in Delhi to attend different meetings and not on the T-issue. The meeting with the administrative officials gained prominence as it was the first meeting that involved bureaucracy on the Telangana issue since after the Justice Srikrishna Panel deliberations.

According to sources, the Home Secretary sought feedback on the law and order situation in the state. The meeting also raised hopes for the Seemandhra leaders equally as the entire exercise might lead into setting up of a development council for Telangana region.
