Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's announcement seeking more time to take decision on the Telangana issue was criticized by leaders of the Telangana political parties.

TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao said that the party had expected a similar announcement from the Congress party and that was why he termed the all party meeting last month convened by Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde as useless. He said the Telangana Congress leaders should quit the party and join the Telangana movement if they are serious about the Telangana state.

The Telugu Desam Party also criticized the further delay and said that they never expected the Congress party to resolve the issue. The TDP leaders said that the Centre is intentionally dragging the issue to gain political mileage.

The Telangana Congress leaders also vented their ire against the Congress central leadership over the announcement. They criticized the party for delaying the decision at the last moment when everyone are hopeful of a positive decision on the Telangana state. A Telangana delegation comprising of Ministers K Jana Reddy, J Geeta Reddy, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, Basavaraj Saraiah, MPs Madhu Yaskhi and S Rajaiah and Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy met Azad minutes after the later gave the announcement. Speaking to media later, the Telangana Congress leaders blamed the Seemandhra politicians for sabotaging the efforts of Telangana state formation.
