January 24, 2013
New Delhi

The Congress central leadership continued their discussions on the Telangana issue for the second consecutive day. AICC president Sonia Gandhi held the discussions with senior party leaders including Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, AK Antony, Digvijay Singh, P Chidambaram, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Vayalar Ravi and Ahmed Patel. The discussions on the Telangana statehood issue lasted for 40 minutes on the second day too.

Sources say that the Centre has narrowed down the options significantly. The core committee is considering various options and the possible repercusions in case the Centre grants the formation of a Telangana state. Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is likely to make an official statement announcing a fresh date when the Centre would make a final statement before he leaves on his three-day trip to Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the TRS has made it clear yet again that they would not accept any solution which doesn't include separate Telangana state integral of Hyderabad.
