January 29, 2013

The seven Congress MPs from Telangana who announced their decision to quit Lok Sabha have decided to postpone tendering their resignations by a day. The MPs were urged by the Ministers and legislators from Telangana to differ their decision and to keep faith on the Centre on the Telangana statehood issue.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Vayalar Ravi has summoned the MPs to New Delhi to discuss their resignations. Ravi has spoke to Nizamabad MP Madhu Goud Yaskhi on phone and invited the seven MPs for talks with the central leadership. He also asked the MPs not to rush into any drastic decision.

After a marathon meeting, the MPs have decided to hold their decision on resigning. Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar told the media after the meeting that they have not changed their decision and would meet Vayalar Ravi before tendering their resignations. He said the MPs would convince the high command in granting the Telangana statehood. Former Rajya Sabha MP K Keshava Rao said they would not make their resignation letter public without meeting party chairperson Sonia Gandhi first.

Meanwhile, the TRS party continues to mount pressure on the Telangana Ministers, Legislators and MPs and promised them ticket from their party in case of by-polls. TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao said it would be his responsibility to ensure that the leaders who tender their resignations would be re-elected.
