Hyderabad

Congress leaders from Telangana region will hold a public meeting at the Nizam's College on June 30. The motive of the meeting is to convey that nothing short of a separate Telangana state would satisfy the people of the region.

In the back drop of criticism on their lack of commitment on the separate statehood, 11 Ministers, 24 MLAs and 8 MPs of the Congress party and others attended a broad-based meeting on Tuesday. Minister for Panchayat Raj K Jana Reddy who led the meeting urged the party men to mobilize one lakh people for the meeting and impress upon the Congress high command that bifurcation is the need of the hour.

Deputy Chief Minister C Damodar Raja Narasimha said that people will not trust unless the Centre announces Telangana. Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao reminded that they were only asking de-merger of Hyderabad State. MPs Madhu Yakshi and Ponnam Prabhakar said that Congress would win 15 MP seats if the Centre announces separate Telangana.
