Police book case against Union Ministers Chidambaram and Shinde

The LB Nagar police on Monday booked a case against the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram for allegedly cheating the people of Telangana by going back on their word.

Police booked a case under section 420 of IPC against these two ministers following a direction from a Court in Ranga Reddy districted. They pulled the Station House Officer of the police station for not following the orders passed on January 28, 2013. Acting on a complaint filed by the Telangana Junior Advocates' Association Member Naresh Kumar, the court took cognizance against him under section 166(a) of the IPC. It may be recalled here that the court on January 28 directed the police to file FIR, probe the allegations and also a status report before it by February 14 following the petitioner alleged that both the Union Ministers made misleading statements on the Telangana issue thereby cheating the people. He alleged that Shinde made a statement at an all-party meeting convened by him on December 28 in New Delhi that the issue will be resolved within a month, while the then Union Home Minister, Chidambaram on December 9, 2009 had announced that the process for a separate State would be initiated and following protests in Rayalaseema and Andhra region changed the statement that need some more time over consultations on the issue.
