'No going back on the process of Telangana State formation', says Congress

While the Congress made it clear on Friday that there was no going back on the formation of Separate Telangana State, it said that the Assembly elections in five states will not come in the way of formation process.

The Union Minster for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari said that the draft cabinet note on Telangana after the meeting of the Union Cabinet on Friday. Although the Union Home Minister Shinde had indicated that the draft was ready but it did not figure in the cabinet agenda on Friday. The cabinet note will be presented before the Union Cabinet after getting the political clearance from Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. He said that apart from the draft note on Telangana, the Union Cabinet will also consider the recommendations of the AK Anthony Committee that is looking into the apprehensions of the Seemandhra Congress leaders over the bifurcation. The Cabinet, after giving its approval to the creation of a separate Telangana State, is expected to set up a Group of Ministers to go threadbare into the issues arising out of the bifurcation. That is likely to be followed by a resolution sent to the AP assembly regarding the formation of the new state, said sources.

Digvijay takes light of resignations

Meanwhile, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh made it clear to the MPs and Cabinet Union Ministers threatened to resign if the party goes ahead with the process. He also added that there was no question of going back on the issue.
