Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday ordered issuance of notices to Election Commission and contesting candidate Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. It directed the Election Commission asking to submit a report on the educational qualifications of Nalgonda Assembly contesting candidate Komatireddy Venkat Reddy within a couple of days.

A Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar admitted a petition filed by Dubbaka Narsimha Reddy. The petitioner complained the court that Komatireddy had submitted wrong educational qualifications in his affidavit for the elections scheduled on April 30. He stated that Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stated that he completed Engineering degree, the same way he did in 2009 elections. The petitioner alleged that Venkat Reddy deceived the people by submitting wrong information and got elected as MLA and later served as Minister.

The petitioner urged the court to give directions to the Election Commission in the back drop of the Supreme Court directives that the candidates have to furnish correct information in the affidavits. He further asked the Court to give directions to EC to reject his candidature. The petitioner furnished the information of the educational qualifications obtained from Osmania University that stated that Komatireddy joined B.Tech in 1983 and he failed in the first year examinations and in 1989 too he could not pass the examination. He said that Komatireddy later cancelled his admission.
