Poll campaign for 17 Lok Sabha and 119 Assembly seats comes to an end

Campaigning for the first phase elections in the State came to an end on Monday. The Telangana region will go into elections on April 30 for 17 Lok Sabha and 119 Assembly constituencies.

Barring sporadic incidents of skirmishes between workers of major political parties, campaigning went on peaceful in Telangana area. The elections are very important in Telangana since the winner will form the first government of the newly formed Telangana state. The appointed date of Telangana state is June 2. Telangana is set to witness a triangular fight between Congress, TRS and BJP-TDP alliance and each of them are claiming credit for their role in the new State formation.

Congress Party

AICC president Sonia Gandhi addressed three meetings in Karimnagar, Chevella and Andole while AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi addressed four meetings in Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, Warangal and Hyderabad. National leaders of Congress who addressed meetings in Telangana include Digvijay Singh, Vayalar Ravi, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Jairam Ramesh.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi

On TRS front, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on an average addressed 8 to 10 meetings a day and covered as many as 107 assembly constituencies claiming credit for formation of Telangana State.

Telugu Desam Party - Bharatiya Janata Party

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi addressed four meetings at Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar and Hyderabad and TDP president Nara Chandra Babu Naidu addressed 70 meetings in all Telangana districts through 30 holographic display.

YSR Congress Party

The star campaigners of the party are party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, Vijayamma and Sharmila cover Khammam, Nalgonda and twin cities and their road show in Mahabubabad by Jagan Reddy.

Lok Satta & MIM

Lot Satta Party: The star campaigner of the Party national president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan who addressed 75 road shows while AIMIM star campaigner Asaduddin Owaisi addressed 30 meetings on an average of three each in 10 segments. Akbaruddin Owaisi participated in 12 road shows.
