Government committed wrong in moving to Supreme Court
HYDERABAD: Telangana PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaih said on Monday that the Telangana Government committed mistake in moving to Supreme Court in EAMCET admissions. He said that it is unfortunate that the Chief Minister is acting for credit of his own impression that he is playing with the students of Telangana. He said that the students and farmers are put to inconvenience during 70 days rule.

Sunitha Lakshmi files petition on Telangana Survey
HYDERABAD: Sunitha Lakshmi filed a petition challenging the Telangana Government on the total survey in the State on August 19. She alleged that scientific system is not followed in the survey and it is in violative of Article 19 and 21 of the Indian Constitution. She said that the Government has not issued a Gazette notification.

Supreme Court rejects Government plea for extension of EAMCET counselling
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday declined to give more time to Telangana Government for the conduct of EAMCET counselling courses and directed it to complete the admission in Engineering Colleges in the State by August 31 as per the original schedule. A Division Bench comprising of Justice SJ Mukhopadahya and Justice SA Bobde said that it should be held in accordance with the AP State Reorganization Act 2014.

It may be recalled that the Telangana Government has filed a petition seeking extension on the ground that it lacked staff and also to decide who is eligible for Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana (FAST). It also submitted that locals should be given preference in admissions as per Article 371 D of the Constitution which was declined.

3 crore worth of gold stolen from Grameena Vikas Bank
MAHABUBNAGAR: In a major heist, 10 kgs of gold valued at Rs.3 crore and nearly Rs.13 lakh cash was stolen from the Grameena Vikas Bank at Balanagar mandal headquarters near Shadnagar of Mahabubnagar district in the early hours of Monday. The burglars gained entry into the bank by cutting the rear door and cut open the iron chest and took away the gold ornaments and cash ‘, said DSP K Dronacharyulu. The burglars took away the hard disk and Direct Video Recorder along with them.

Goutham Adani calls on K Chandrasekhara Rao
HYDERABAD: Adani Group of Companies chairman Goutam Adani called on the Chief Minster K Chandrasekhara Rao on Monday. Adani explained the Chief Minister about his company and the various activities and ‘we will be able to produce 20,000MW of power by 2020 and will supply it to the needy States. The Chief Minister told him of the salient features of the new industrial policy that will be coming up including single window clearance. The Chief Minster said that though the State had everything but missing power and added that the government would be happy if the Adani Group came forward with ides to ease power situation.

Telangana Government issued orders to release Rs.2.96 crore to sportspersons
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government on Monday released orders to release Rs.2.96 crore to reward sportspersons who brought laurels to the State. Parupalli Kasyap who clinched a gold medal in the CWG would receive Rs.50 lakh and he would also be given Rs.25 lakh for hi9s performance in 2012 London Olympics. Both Gagan Nagaraj (shooting) Rs.25 lakh and Jwala Gutta (badminton) Rs .15 lakh.

Badminton players PV Sindhu and RV Gurusaidutt will be given Rs.15 lakh each for winning a bronze medal and Sindhu would be given another cash award of Rs.25 lakh for her performance in 2013 World Badminton Championship held in China.

While Srikanth Kidimbri (badminton) and B Aruna Reddy (Gymnastics) will receive Rs.3 lakh each and badmintion coaches Pullela Gopichand and Mohd.Arif will receive Rs.50 lakh and Rs.25 lakh respectively while badminton player Saina Nehwal would receive Rs.20 lakh for securing gold in 2014 Australian Open.
