TRS delegation seeks special package to Telangana

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) delegation led by its chief K Chandrasekhara Rao on Tuesday met the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Though the delegation met him to thank the Prime Minister for smooth passage of AP State Reorganization Bill 2013, they used the plank to seek special packages for the development of Telangana.

Submits memorandum

TRS president Chandrasekhara Rao has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister seeking the Centre's help in the reconstruction of Telangana in tune with the aspirations of the people. it is learnt that he wanted him to accord national project status to Pranahita-Chevella; special category State status to Telangana and allocation of 500 MW power from the Central pool for three years since irrigation in the region is predominantly dependent on pumping ground water. He also requested him to allocate gas to power projects at Shankarpalli and Nedumnur, sanction of an IIM, a health institution on the lines of AIIMS, allowing deputation of non-AP cadre IAS, IPS and IFS officers of Telangana origin to work in the new State for five years, sanction of a special package to improve employment opportunities so that Hyderabad could maintain its own brand.
